I have been out of work for a month and still run my supra. Im used to it though as im in the building trade so only have constant work for about 6-7 months at a time then can sit on my backside for a month or so - so i guess im not really unemployed just out of work self employed!

For Suprasize...

Have you considered renting out your signature space to an advertiser?

With the amount of screen real estate on offer you could probably generate about £500 per week

:D

Massive isn't it.

I ran my NA for 8 months whilst I was unemployed but I had Mrs H as the bread winner so it wasn't the end of the world. If I was young with no income then I think it would be impossible to run a Supra and keep it in a good serviceable condition.

Oh and I claimed Job Seekers Allowance at every opportunity. No disgrace in that asI had paid into the system for 18 years.

Totally agree with this. I hate it when people on here act all high and mighty about how they've never claimed benefit/job seekers and never will, like its some big thing to be able to say, you were obviously living with your mum or had someone else paying your bloody bills then.

I think its more to do with the stigma attached to 'job seekers' as many people these days roll straight out of school and claim job seekers for years on end and fail to do what is said in the title, no one seeks a job. To anyone who is actually seeking employment I do not personally see a problem with claiming it.

and to the original question if I lost my job I would have to take my supra of the road eventually but i would just store it until I found work.

ive never claimed before and i dont have anyone else paying my bills or etc, im lucky enough that i can get at least part time work if and when i need it to pay for vital stuff.

Its still only a car. You don't have to run it ragged so you need new tyres every 6 months.

I've been on the scrapheapo for nearly two years now. I SORNed the supra when I first lost my job, and after 6 months all benefits stopped. Who cares that I've paid some £250,000 in income tax and NI over my working life? Now with my wife self-employed and making enough to run two cars again, we stumped up the tax, MOT and insurance and have it back on the road again. Its only cost is fuel.

I have a fantastic permanent job but if i lose my job even then I would rather sleep under the brigde(but still in the Supra) then admit that "i was too weak to run my life and i needed help" (benefits etc)-No chance!

When i'm driving my car i'm FREE, happy and positive i really love those feelings and once discovered i don't want to live without them. My car is like a narcotic and i will not survive not driving so i prefer to "take it" :)

p.s

Statement above is just a visualization - i'm not a drug user etc
