it is true that a lot of aftermarket alloy rads for the 2JZ-GTE are not as efficient as a new stock thick core TT rad from Toyota, they have exceptionally good cores. But they are not shiny :) I was once tod Toyota had had so much hassle with the MKIII Supra turbos overheating and blowing head gaskets that they went a bit OTT for the 2JZ cooling system. Given that a stock rad and viscous fan will happily cool none track driven 700 plus BHP cars, it sounds plausible to me.
