Muffleman
Hi all, Got an online quote with Admiral over the weekend, declared all mods and got a great price. Phoned today to take the policy out, and whilst checking it all through, the guy asked if it had an induction kit, I said yes - 'our underwriters will not insure vehicles with induction kits sir' !!! So let me get this right, I've declared a bodykit, wheels, ecu, exhaust, decat etc, and it's the induction kit they're getting bent out of shape about WTF is that all about !?! So my friends, avoid admiral Cheers Matt
Jay
Same thing with Elephant, only their gripe is with a Dump Valve - declared wheels, lowered, full TRD kit, full exhaust, HKS induction and the only thing they aren't happy with is the DV
Clarkey
I had the same problem. Admiral in a nutshell are a bunch of muppets.
Muffleman
Agreed, don't think he approved of me laughing at him either ! For your info though, I'd been getting quotes of £900+ from Adrian Flux, Egg and others. But two numbers to keep are : Insure your motor 0870 770 7033, this is their 'specialist' department and quoted me £770. Then Osborne and Sons on 020 8388 6000 quoted me £670 - all mods declared. If I find cheaper , you guys will be the first to know But I suspect Osborne will be getting my business Matt
Nick
Not as funny as me trying to explain what an Intercooler is to Tesco!! I'm insured with A-Plan at the moment. One of the few companies I phoned that wasn't painful to talk to. They understand modifications and offered me a sensible quote
Clarkey
Just got off the phone to Adrian Flux. Told them about the mods to come: RSR GT2, Walbro Fuel Pump, TRL VFCC, 2 x Decat pipes. My premium remains unchanged @ £971! With all mod's - current & above declared. Just have to pay a £15 admin charge. Probably to cover the cost of someone throwing away my original mod-declaration form & issuing me with a new one.

oxygene
I was with Admiral when I had all my vauxhall's, when i got the supe and re-insured with em the car was stock, but when I asked abotu any mods to the car they told me, that they couldnt insure any modifications to the car. I asked em if they would insure an aftermarket air filter they came back with "no, it makes too much of an increase to the speed of the car and our under-writers refuse to insure you if you proceed with this performance modification" They dont know what the 4k they are talking about. I also spoke to them about adding a turbo timer to the car and they came back with a no on that too...they didnt even know what it was. When I explained they still said no as they said the car could still be driven away, DUH!!! no it can't! Well im with A-Plan now, they are great....Admiral Insurance, the worst thing to come out of Wales
paul_y3k
I spoke to direct line, explained about the work being done on the car and there were not intrested in what parts etc, just the percentage increase in bhp. Upped the premium by 200 quid over the year. quite happy with it and I 've got the cover note to go with it !
Clarkey
Ash - Admiral said the same thing to me about my Blitz Turbo Timer! Regardless of the fact that when the TT is engaged and starts the countdown - if you take the handbrake OFF to drive away ... the engine immediately cuts. Admiral are v. black & white. The only way you can win with Admiral is NOT to go with Admiral!
SkyJawa
Also bear in mind with the Admiral group - you have to declare mods on your policy, but if you have an accident they will only replace with standard parts. IMHO thats a joke, and if thats the case you shouldn't have to declare mods. And half the time the modded bits a cheaper than OEM Toyota/Nissan anyway..........
