rough price guide please

ok as you know only just got the car back on the road, tick over is very lumpy sounds like its missing .

so what should i be looking at if i change out the plugs , and obviously the coil thingymagig will fall apart from reading threads .

just looking at some figures please guys

If its been sitting with a battery disconnected it prob just needs running for a while.

hi john mate , hows things with you?ive given it a good run out, at speed it seems ok apart from the poxy o/d off light flashing, then on idle it feels as if its missing almost feel a shudder at times not all the time now and again

They can be fragile,

It's the coil pack clips that fall off. Generally around £30 for a full set from PW

ok nice one getting somewhere now , as its probably one or both of the above , is this an easy job or one for a mechanic

It depends on how handy you are with that sort of work really. There is a guide on here to replacing the coil pack clips, replacing the spark plugs is very easy but again it's all relative.

best to order the x2 breather hoses that go between the cam covers as these almost certainly will be brittle and it makes things far easier if you can just cut off the old.

I would take off the green plug cover and have a look at the front most coil pack/front 2 plugs. You can then see the 'clips' that go brittle and with a screw driver you could remove one (you need to push in a part of it to unclip - the usual electrical clip thing) and see how bad it is. It's not like they will definitely fail/crumble its just they may be happy/ok in situ now but fall apart and then be useless if you remove and they do crumble. If you don't need the car 24/7 i'd get out there and have go at exposing removing the first coil pack.
