Paul
Hi paint peeps What is it with bodyshops etc recommending non silicon based polishes to be used on car paint? Just something that my paint guy said about a polish they use and he wet himself saying it's got no silicon in it. WHY ? Paul
Jake
I believe it's because silicon sinks through the paint and makes it very difficult if any further paintwork is required in the future.
lovatt
if they have to do any re-work on your car it makes it much harder as it will cause holes in the new laquer they are putting on, silicone is what they put in hammeright to give it the hammered finish, not what you want on your bonnet ! painters nightmare !! back to black is just as bad
Paul
Cheers Lads. Nice to know the reason, something to avoid then. Should have asked when my paint guy mentioned it but as always I've got the answer off you lot Paul
