View Full Version : boiling?
i went for a bit of a play today and when i got back the car sounded like it was making coffee, i opened the bonnet and it was boiling, on closer inspection the top hose was quite limp and the res jobbie was full, after pondering a bit the boiling calmed down and the bottle returned to its notmal level,
is it time for a new rad, cap, thermostat or other?
the guage was as always sat in the middle
cheers
Damian

How do you check a rad cap other than visually?
I think I'd be inclined to change it anyway, unless it's known to be a newish one.

I had exactly the same problem a while back, it was the rad cap. Mine was obviously knackered when visually inspecting it, that's not to say one that looks perfect could be knackered though. Think they are about £12 from Toyota, not too bad in the grand scheme of things.
Mine was the core plug
£3.99 for the plug.....wait for it......10hrs labour!!!!!
lol
Good thing I don't pay for labour :D
think i will get a new cap and go from there
