After help ball joint nut spinning

It was going so well replacing the drive shaft. Old one out new one in. How ever there theres one ball joint that i cant get done back up. Its the drivers side rear hub nut on the right. As soon as i start to twist the nut the bolt twists too. I have managed the others by putting pressure on the joint but i cant get pressure on this as its sidewards. Any tool i have i cant seem to fit in the side as there's not the space. I have tried putting wood against it to pull it back in. All to no avail. Tried ball joint press clamps they just dont fit.

Has anyone any suggestions on how i can keep the joint in place to tighten back up.

Have you tried a G-clamp?

Tried a g clamp theres not enough space to get it in and theres no where to anchor against other than the bolt

have you greased the thread.

have you screwd the nut on with it removed

have you tried a new nut.

sometimes the nuts get slight damage and go tight too quickly.

I used a ratchet strap with the ends linked together round the suspension arms to pull mine down, works great. Also make sure the threads are clean and the nut runs freely before trying to tighten back up.

Sometimes taps of a hammer is enough for the taper to get a grip.

I genuinely mean just taps though, as you are tightening the nut.

Lever the arm / joint in hard, if it still spins use a none locking nut to seat the taper, undo, and fit the OE locking nut. Air tools help, to whizz the nut up hard and fast, but are by no means essential.

I will try these suggestions. Think the none locking nut maybe best then swap it ove. I have an air gun so will try that. Thanks for the suggestions will let you know which one works.

If it's the rear toe link ball joint you may need a decent impact flexi socket to get on it, or risk using a normal universal joint. Imaginative packing and a big lever may win the day if you can't find a suitably threaded plain nut. Good luck!
