BOV Question

Looking into what bov's are available but i have a few questions, some of the questions i think i know what the answers will be but better safe than sorry.

1) Can they be put anywhere on the intercooler pipework?

2) Is 1 enough for my build?

3) is there a certain size i need?

Are there any recommended BOV'S which sound good.

many thanks Rob

Youtube is the best place to find the right sounding BOV for you. I know that some people specify turbo's with internal wastegates due to liking that particular sound instead of BOV's.

The position of the BOV on piping shouldn't matter, as long as it's not on a different location e.g. between different components. Piping will have the same pressure throughout, though maybe not the same temperature the general working pressure should be the same.

BOV's are rated to different PSI's, you can get higher rated PSI bov's. Rather than having 2, you would be best to try and find one for a high PSI rating I think, as the pressure wouldn't be released equally, assuming your build will require a higher than normal PSI as you specific the possibility of requiring more than one.

OK let's try this another way - my SSQV couldn't really cope with the pressure in my system when I was at 1.4 bar.

I've seen the Racing one cope with loads though... HKS states it should handle 3 bar. If I were you I'd be going with that one as I doubt Ryan will be mapping it quite that high. Not sure how it sounds, but to me that's totally irrelevant :)

You can also use several if you want to, but I can't for the life of me work out why you'd want to.

how come your running 2x hodge? do you find any performance related improvement?

The build up of boost pressure from a large turbo like mine I wanted a good amount of pressure release so I thought 2 would be ideal. It can't hurt that's for sure.

I read of a guy in the states running an ssqv at 32psi. The way they work should mean they can hold the pressure no bother but I doubt they would flow anywhere near enough at that level to stop compressor stall.

The hks racing can flow up to 800hp worth apparently.

its states on the website the raceport is for drag and race cars, LIKE 1500BHP applications.

The race port is the one i had problems with, like tial its very slow to open and i kept blowing boost pipes off, Changed to HKS racing BOV and never blown a pipe off since, they open instantly.
