Payment Methods for purchases from other Members

Folks,

If your buying stuff from other club members, I'd assume this was a relatively safe transaction, however what methods would you guys use to pay for items that are not collected and paid in cash.

Paypal?

Bank transfer?

I don't want to make a transaction complicated but for a purchase over £1k I don't want to take any risks either.

Could do some some advice from people who have made such transactions.

Are they that far away that collection isn't possible on such a high value transaction?

Unfortunately it is too far, 150-200 miles each each and I don't have another car and can't really take the supra, so will organise couriers to pick them up and deliver, which seems to be quite cheap way to do it.

Id insist on cash in hand for that amount. Depends on the seller's rep, do you trust them. Theres comeback from Paypal (providing you dont gift it) should anything go wrong.

Where abouts is it?

Yorkshire to London. About £100 for a courier insured unless I can find cheaper. Paypal should be instant as well but then you have to move the funds to your bank account.

I can't think of any other way, unless they ahve credit card facilities which you can get for free via paypal also, but fees apply.

who is the member?

I've paid by bank transfer, paypal and cash in hand.

Cash on collection would always be my preference, especially if the member's not well known on here and doesn't have any feedback.

A number of positive feedbacks, many posts and a number of years as a member, and has support in his thread, so yeah I think this guy is trust worthy.

I dont use pay pal and prefer to do bank transfers. For that amount it would very much depend on who the member was.

Just a thought, I work near Reading during the week and live in Lincoln at weekend. If the seller is willing to meet me and you are as well I could collect it for you and bring it down for a few quid diesel money. Providing it will fit in a Skoda Octavia lol

Deal is set up now. Used Paypal in the end but mainly for speed as I can only do online transfers quick to other Halifax account.

Is there cover on Paypal for family and friends payments? I was trying to work it out but got fed up and paid the 3.4% which I think is quite a high fee.

Member is very trusted, got some good feedback...hopefully have some new wheels coming my way on Monday....hopefully they will fit hahaahah
