Can anyone hazard a guess as to the reasoning behind the chopped rear bumper?

I've noticed this same arrangement NASCAR. Is it a different school of thought to the diffuser approach or are they merely reducing drag from the removal of unnecessary bodywork?

It must help getting it onto a trailer, thats for sure!

I think it stops the rear bumper from acting like an air brake. You'd think the set up coupled with a diffuser of some sort would be the ideal solution rather than just having half the bumper missing

That was some strange mix of metal for a race grid!

He's a very good pilot, I doubt the Supra is as easy to muscle through the corners as the BMW or Porsche and yet, despite all the pedal-work, he lost next to no time to them and was ready to pounce as soon as there was enough straight tarmac in front of him. The taps were opened fully then.
