Which 18" tyres are best for the Supra?

Hi, looking at getting a TT in the not too distant future and at the minute I'm planning what I want to do and how much it will all cost etc...

One thing that I haven't really decided on is the tyres, just wanted peoples opinions on makes, prices and the best place to get them from. The wheels I plan on getting are the Advan RS 18" (in gun metal for those interested) with 9" at the front and 10" inch at the back with an offset of 35, mainly as they get good reviews and look great, plus they fit over UK or upgraded brakes.

Through doing a bit of a search on here there are mixed opinions on the widths and profiles to use, so opinions on that are welcome too! From looking round the rears need to be something like 285x30 to be ok for the arches and the fronts need to be something 255x35.

Thanks!

Wheel and Tyre sizes

Here is a usefull guide along with a tyre calculator

You should use the tyre calculator to get the correct profile to keep the rolling radius close to o/e, http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm

Rim width---Min tyre width----Ideal tyre width-------Max tyre width

7.0 inches-----195 mm--------205 or 215 mm-----------225 mm

7.5 inches-----205 mm--------215 or 225 mm-----------235 mm

8.0 inches-----215 mm--------225 or 235 mm-----------245 mm

8.5 inches-----225 mm--------235 or 245 mm-----------255 mm

9,0 inches-----235 mm--------245 or 255 mm-----------265 mm

9.5 inches-----245 mm--------255 or 265 mm-----------275 mm

10.0 inches----255 mm--------265 or 275 mm-----------285 mm

10.5 inches----265 mm--------275 or 285 mm-----------295 mm

11.0 inches----275 mm--------285 or 295 mm-----------305 mm

11.5 inches----285 mm--------295 or 305 mm-----------315 mm

12.0 inches----295 mm--------305 or 315 mm-----------325 mm

12.5 inches----305 mm--------315 or 325 mm-----------335 mm

I was going to give you my opinion on the tyres for those width wheels to closely match them to the stock dimensions but you really need to take into account of the wheel offset especially if you're going for a 9" wide front wheel.

The offset will be 35 as this allows them to fit without much trouble. Will add that to my first post!

Cheers!

http://www.kulthea.net/fitment.xls is quite useful too...

255/40/18 front, 275/35/18 rear.

When I enter those numbers into the fitment calculator, it states that the front tire height is "Too Tall".

Is this actually the case as it seems a fair number of people run this size front tire.

I was under the impression you wanted the tire height as close to stock as possible for speedometer/odometer reasons and that front and rear tires also need to be as close to the same height as possible.

Maybe I am putting to much faith in the fitment calculator?

Just trying to wrap my head around this as I too am looking for tires for the same size wheels only in a 41 offset front and 45 offset rear.

Think I'm understanding the sizes a bit more now, what are peoples opinions on different tyres makes/models.

I get the idea that Pirelli Rosso, Toyo T1R and Bridgestone RE50A are very good road tyres with Toyo R888's being the track choice, what are peoples experiences with these, focusing on road tyres specifically?
