Shock Absorbers...

Hi All.

Imported TT.

I had the rear/right shocker go 2 years ago. My local garage replaced both rear shockers with Toyota recommended parts.

6 Months later, the Right shocker went again. My local garage contacted Toyota who said it was still in warranty and replaced it FOC.

Now the left/rear shocker has gone. It's out of warranty, but Toyota have agreed to replace it anyway.

The garage have informed me that the shockers have not failed due to any other suspension problems.

My question.

Has anybody else had this problem with genuine Toyota replacement shockers, or am I just exceptionally unlucky ?

Are there any better shockers I could get ?

Not heard of any recurrent issues with new OEM shock absorbers before, they can leak over time/mileage but should last longer than yours have.

I would see if they can replace them with a set of OEM Bilstein/Toyota shock absorbers instead, these came as standard on some Supra models and are very good quality. I've sold many sets of these over the years and never had any problems.

Your garage .... is it possible that they used 2nd-hand parts and could it have happened that they didn't really contact Toyota about the part failure?

Hmmm... It's possible I suppose, although I have used them for a few years. I'll ask them to give me the faulty one.
