auxillary belt help

I'm running a Gates Micro-V, 6PK1840 belt on my NA with the AC compressor removed.

If all the pulleys on your build are the same diameter as the pulleys they've replaced you'd be fairly safe with the same size belt as mine.

The idea is to get a belt which keeps the belt tensioner under as much tension as possible.

Get someone to hold the belt tensioner in full tension with the belt in position while you clamp off the excess belt material at the power steering pulley using a vise grips, that will give you a basic idea of the belt size required.

I'm on pretty good speaking terms with my local motor factors so I brought a couple of similar length belts home with me, fitted the most suitable and brought the rest back the next day.

Is there a possibility you could do the same?

yeah im not using the ATI mate, i have a feeling the boostlogic might be the same size as stock but ill soon find out, unless someone has the diameter of stock?

The diameter of a stock pulley is 145mm.

Bear in mind thats a stock NA pulley mate, I've no idea if that measurement applies to a TT pulley.

Also, that measurement is the diameter at the widest point of the pulley on which the belt runs, i.e. the tips of the grooves, not the outer lip of the pulley.

just measured and ine looks very very close to 145mm, fingers crossed then

cheers for all your help you have been great mate

I hope that will take care of it mate and as casey said that is one pristine engine.

But don't even think about asking me how the belt might be polished!

Actually did you ever investigate the possibility of a coloured belt, like HKS have done with the timing belt?

just got the new belt and its way too small :(

your pic is wrong by the way

It should be like this then (sorry mate I was going from memory, the enine is sitting on the garage floor with no belt on)

attachment.php?attachmentid=134571&d=1308050868

But I've just refitted my 6PK1840 (number verified) and it fits perfectly like that.
