This car is going in the direction of a budget road legal track car.

 

Next Steps:

ECU and re-mapping.

 

Big thanks to Lee P/SRD. Lee's nursed my car through the last few years and kept it in good shape, in addition to providing invaluable expert advice.

Also thanks to the many members who have given advice and sold me much needed replacement parts/upgrades!

Ok so the real reason I've started this thread now is to show you all my nuts.... ;)

Now I'm starting to the a new set of wheels are needed....

 

I've also had the Suspension raised a bit as I want the car to be a little more practical and so I can park it without rubbing the floor and hitting the exhust over steep bumps.

 

Some maintainace is required and some ICE also I think.

After a lot of searching and trying to make sense of offsets and wheel sizes, I've been lucky enough to get my hands on some wheels courtesy of j_jza80.

 

18" BBS LM's

Gun Metal Grey spokes

Fronts: 9", 245/40/18 ET 42

Rears: 10", 285/35/18 ET 50

Tyres: Pirelli P-zeros

 

Have great clearance on brakes, however really not sure if I have big brakes or not. I will have to check the wheel arches but haven't noticed any rubbing yet!

 

Will get some pics up soon when I've had a chance to polish them up and take some good shots. (Hopefully these wheels won't get laughed at next time I'm at SRD ;))

 

This is the start of a mini exterior make over which will involve a front bumper change (Stillen) and all grills/mesh replaced with a gunmetal grey finish (when I can source some)

 

UP NEXT: FMIC, New stereo head unit, and some custom mats.

Sorry to be the bearer of what some call bad news, but the brakes in that last pic are the 2 pot aka small brakes.

 

They get a lot of bad press simply because they are the smaller option, but they are still very good brakes that do an outstanding job for "ordinary" driving.

 

For more serious driving and especially track use, most people will suggest you get yourself something with a lot more track focus.

 

I'm not going to dare suggest what that should be because I can see what the news anchor would say;

 

"coming up after the break - Its the old K-Sport Versus OEM-big-brakes argument -> we find out who wins, with commentary from brembo's and AP's supporters!!" :p

mmm...not sure I'd agree - I drove for many years with the 2 pot/j-specs before swapping for a set of ls400 calipers and the difference is night and day, it was only when I swapped them that I realised how poor the 2 pots were. On top of that, I was forever getting the 2 pots either refurbed or replacing parts as they were a real pain in the arse for seizing or sticking (even though my supras have always been daily drivers). I haven't had to 'fix' anything with the ls400 calipers.
