Hi everyone!

I just got a new toyota supra last friday, with plenty of modifications.

However I am only 21 and the cheapest insurance quote I can get is around £4,000.

I have 3 years named driver no claims but no one seems to be taking this into account.

Can anyone reccommend an insurance company?

You've got no actual no claims of your own? Your 21 & you've just bought a modified Supra? £4k sounds like a bargain to me compared to some of the quotes my drivers get.

Try Sky,A-plan & the various other specialist but I wouldn't hold your breath on beating that.

Oh & welcome to the club.

As above, does that mean you don't have your own NCB? Just that you have been on a polcy as a named driver?

You should really check insurance before you buy any car, let this be a lesson learned.

Sky is our club insurer but I think you have to be over 23, their are some young drivers on here, but keep trying different companies.

Tried Performance Direct?

you have just bought a fast rear wheel drive car, it has been made faster with modifications, it is in a high insurance group, you are in one of the highest risk groups and you have no NCB (nobody is interested in named driver NCB) of your own.... I'm surprised you got a quote at all

If he can get insurance for that price when my 22 year old wife with 5 years no claims is paying £800 on an unmodified Mini one then I think we'll be changing her insurance over.

Anyway we may as well see some pictures of the car.

If he gets cheaper quotes than me, I won't be happy. I'm coming onto 21 with 3yrs NCB and I'm still only getting quotes for around £2k. Last year it was £1300. Difference much? I can't see you getting much better than what you've got.

ayee J-specs are always going to be more expensive!!. i had a quote for an N/A 21 years 4 years NCB £2,050... same quote on UK spec TT and it was £1,040 with admiral! including all the extras too!

a rule of thumb is.... ALWAYS check the insurance first!

You will struggle mate.....

Shouldnt you have got a quote before buying the car???

You bought a car without getting insurance quotes first? mental.

As above..!!

Subscribed to this thread. I can't imagine the level of optimism that must have gone into buying the car without an insurance quote....

I would make a long list of import car insurers and spend some serious time on the phone. After that, put up a sale thread for the car.

what a rip off ! how can they justify these prices!

they (justify) these prices because of people making silly/stupid claims when they (weren't) injured at all in an accident.

i remember when i had my volvo s60 D5 and a bus side swiped it, everyone was saying claim off it, i just wasn't injured and thus didn't claim for any injury.

plus he is (statistically) in the age group most likely to have a severe crash and die...

Because 21 year old kids with no no claims go and buy modified high power cars, its a license to print money!
