hi everyone, got n/a sup jap auto, what is the normal fuel consumption ? mine is doing 18 to the gallon, put £30.00 (22litres) gets me 89 mile thats it,

im keeping to the speed limits im not booting it, ive cleaned 02 sensors with the lemon juice, ive got a set of ngk iridiums grade 6 on the way to put in, car as only done 5000 in the last 6 years and plugs haven't been changed so im hoping that might make a difference, anyone got any other ideas or real figures for fuel consumption, thanks. p.s car as only done 83,000 miles cheers.

Other people have had only limited success (if any) with the lemon juice trick IIRC. Your car should achieve low to mid 20s mpg, nudging into the upper 20s if driven gently and adding sedate motorway driving into the mix.

It sounds like you need to bite the bullet and buy those O2 sensors.

ok, think i get it put on the dyno see whats happening.

You don't need a dyno. The ECU has a certain amount of self-learning built into it, to manage the fuelling. If it's learned to overfuel due to knackered O2 sensors, it'll still probably be overfuelling. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes is all you need to do to get it to re-learn.

If that doesn't help, it's time to push your credit card over the counter at Mr T's in exchange for two O2 sensors.

yeah think its looking that way, might just put it on the dyno first see whats happening, but thanks for the advice.

The auto around town will be a killer. I have just done the Dragonball and got 25 to the gallon with long periods of gentle driving on the motorway. OK there was a bit of hooning but I reckon I would have got about 27 at best. My last £35 I put in before the Dragonball got me just 90 miles as I never saw a motorway in that time. I reckon that is about 15 Mpg..!!

May be worth getting the 02 sensors checked.
