Pre-Dragonball overhaul completed

Before embarking on the Dragonball I thought it prudent to give the old girl a bit of a tickle. so today she's had:

• Oil change (10W 30)

• New TRD oil filter from chrisrigpig)

• New fuel filter

• New rocker cover gaskets (slight weep from old one) plus new bolts, washers, breather pipes and coilpack clips (from Steve Manley)

• New Iridium spark plugs (sparkplugs.co.uk)

• New aluminium top pipe (Whifbitz)

• New braided brake lines (from CW)

• New brake fluid

• New 02 sensor (from CW)

• New HKS panel air filter (Whifbitz)

• Air con regassed - now freezing and boiling as it should be

The new braided brake lines have made a substantial difference to the brake feel. I'm running stock J-Spec brakes and they've always felt spongey and needed a good stamp to get any action. Now they have instant feel with very little effort and pull the car up in no time - hugely impressed. So much so that I don't feel the need to upgrade to UK specs now. I guess the advice about changing from 15 year old rubber hoses to braided ones has much substance to it - a hell of a lot cheaper than a full brake change too!

The car also feels a hell of a lot better now - more responsive and much smoother. Perfect running order for Dragonball now. Be interesting to see if the MPG improves with the new 02 sensor - will monitor how the mileage I get from the next full tank.

Nice one mate :) Im sure MPG will be way down the list of priorities on Dragonball :D

Agree!! Staying sober and driving in a straight line might be higher up the list! And not insulting the Freench too much and starting an internarional incident as well!

You did all that in a day?! Good effort!

I've been putting off fitting my braided hoses (among other things) in case I screw something up. It works at the moment, so I'll leave it like that until after France, then do some proper tidying up :)

Nice work, in a day?!?!

When I changed to braided brake lines the difference was immense, best mod to date I think. Even the mot chappy commented on the feel and power of them. jspecs too :)

I didn't do it myself - 'my' garage did - 2 blokes running round like eejits all day long getting her done!

In reply to DnK

Yes I did. I can still hit the floor with the pedal when at a stand still and it doesn't take much force. When driving I'm very close to the floor. It feels like there isn't much pressure and the pedal travels quite far before it bites.
