today i noticed something strange. i have 3 2jz bare block now sat in my workshop and allthough all the water ways and innerds look the same , the outer castings differ on all three.

for instance 2 have different alu engine mounts to the other and allthough the bolts holes line uop so they are interchangeable the actual holes themselvs are moulded in a different fasion on the blocks .

i also noticed the 1 block has a bloked off pipr at the rear on the maifold side and the ther 2 dont, and 1 block has an extra 2 sets of engine mount holes futher down on both sides ?

would this be because they were made at different factories or came from different spec cars, i allways thayght they would be uniform .

i took a few pics ill upload when i find time

ps all removed from na supras

Guessing maybe theres an early one from an Aristo or something? Pre Supra, maybe a GE not a GTE?

I'm with you on this. The 2jz block was used on a number of vehicles prior to and at the same time as the Supra. No doubt the castings reflect the variation in vehicles using the block at the time.
