Noobie & Warranty

Hi all, I've taken the plunge and bought myself a J spec TT Auto in silver. I've wanted one for so long that before I had driven one I was hoping that my expectations weren't going to be too high, but the car is a dream.

I was just wondering if anyone has taken out warranties with any company ? I am looking to get one and Warranty works cover vehicles up to 15 years old so I can get the top warranty for 12 months for £280. Anyone think this is good/bad idea, any advice ?

Hello Rob,

Welcome to the boards :)

I had a look at getting a warranty when I first got my Supra, after reading through the small print I found it only covered un-modified parts, since my car had a few modifications I thought it wouldn't be worth the money and resulting hassle of claims if various bits were not standard.

If your car is an unmodified example then it might be worth going for, just read the small print carefully before you sign anything ;)

Cheers,

Sherriff.

Agreed any warranty I have ever had wasnt worth the paper it was printed on. Every claim I ever tried to make (par examplei suspension coil spring snapping---sorry thats fair wear and tear!!!) Now I dont bother with warranties. If you are that worried stick the warranty money in an account and leave it there til your first repair bill comes in then at least you have summat to put towards it.

That's good advice.

I had an RAC warranty on my supe when i first purchased it. The warranty cost £500 and wasn't worth squat every time i claimed i was told that the part was not covered as it came under the wear and tear list. Yawn

Suggest you do as advised and stick some money away for a rainy day.
