Clutch mounting question

Sorry if this sounds a little stupid :taped: but every time I see a picture of a Supra gearbox it seems that the clutch is already mounted and not on the flywheel (being attached to the engine that is) All my life every clutch I have ever fitted or seen being fitted has been to the flywheel and not the gearbox - so how do you get it all together Supra style? :innocent:

It's because the clutch on the TT models is a pull type assembly with the bearing pulling the release fingers to effect clutch release, rather than pushing them. As such the assembly is built up on the bench and slid onto the nose of the gearbox. The gearbox is then bolted to the engine and the clutch assembly is slid forward until the cluctch cover is located on the flywheel dowels. Then the cover bolts are fitted via the access panels in the bellhousing and evenly torqued up. HTH. Good question, I thought :)
