after having seen countless clean and neat engine bays at billing, i shamefully feel i must at least make some kind of attempt to keep mine tidy at least. any recommendations from people (using elbow grease) on what products to use/ what to avoid and what to clean and what not to touch ? many thanks ... :)

Roy, you would be suprised how much comes clean with a good engine degreaser and some rags. You can soak caked on bits of your engine bay and wipe clean to shiney paint surfaces again. It will prolly take you a few times on your first thorough cleaning, but if you do it every month or so its really really simple to keep clean.

 

As mentioned before, use an Armor All or equivalent rubber / plastic care product on your plastic and hoses in the engine bay for a clean shiny look. You can buy sprays or other products, but I buy the wipes with the product already on it. Comes in a little dispenser can and makes the job really simple.

 

How long you been "talking" about detailing your car now? Arse up and go do it man! :) :cool:

if i had 'friends' like that - i would be detailing the car everyday!! :D thanks nic ....

 

J - i know, i know, but after billing i was actually ashamed/afraid to open/look at my engine bay. :innocent: now i guess i know what i'll be doing sat mornings ..... :cool:
