I am going to get a car cover for the supra. I have seen the group buy for the storm force, how do people rate them? Are there any better alternatives than the storm force? I don't mind spending money on a decent cover but nothing ridiculous like 800 odd on a carcoon :p

Depends on how important the cover is going to be to you I guess. My decision was circumstantial as I had just bought my Supra literally days prior to the -10 temps and the snow hitting so had to act quickly, funds were pretty low so I opted for the paupers version, the Voyager.

Anyone can go to Halfrauds and grab a cover for 50p but it wont fit right and will last a year, if you're lucky! Considering it was quite a while after Jamesy originally set up the group buy by the time I went to buy mine the service was great. I quoted the reference instructed by Jamesy to obtain the discount and they didnt grumble once, and it was delivered quickly too! I can definitely recommend the Voyager and I'm sure that anyone who owns the Stormforce will be the same, as long as you dont have any enormous bumpers or spoilers?

just a quick heads up you can get a pretty decent car cover from stax for just under £15. it wont cover though if you have a veilside spoiler as i found out but apart from that is was a prett decent car cover for the money and had a lining on the inside to stop any scratching

You can buy second hand carcoons !!

How big would it need to be and do you need indoor or outdoor ? I've seen indoor ones starting at £350 inc vat

L 5m x W 2m x H 1.5m outdoor for £538 inc vat

I think the embarrassment is more of a problem than the price lol Its outdoor for a standard supra.

I guess it depends where it is, my worry would be someone nicking it.

Its definetly the way to protect your car though and if i can put one where my car is im seriously considering one.

i use a storm force one and they are a great cover, we have had some serious snow in the north east the last couple of years and the cover has protected my car so well here are some pics of how good it keeps your car protected.

I would give the Stormforce 8/10 overall. It has protected my car really well and the service from Stormforce has been great when I have had to ring them. One of the clips that tie the cover underneath the car was faulty and they sent me a couple of new ones foc.

I am worried about the long term life of the cover as I have only had mine for 5 months andd already it is looking a bit tired in a couple of places. After a period of high winds I noticed that the exhaust had worn a small hole in my cover. The constant small movements can easlily damage the cover IMO, also where the tyres are has made the inside of the cover all bobbly.

In extreme rain and snow it has kept the car in a lovely condition though.

I have mine in a garage but still cover it over. I bought a Halfords all weather cover, 3 layer, breatheable and looks just like the stormforce but has no wingmirror slots but looking at the pics from Liam is otherwise Idenentical. I have on occasion left my car out with the cover on in rain and snow and the Halfords cover did the job perfectly. Its the extra large size and fits the Supra perfectly

  • 2 months later...

as said previous matey the halfords one (largest) for about 80 notes is a good buy, all weather breathable etc. Ditto on what jamesy stated probably leaves 1 inch of the rims showing but I didnt see that an issue as mines garaged anyway :)

Even if I didnt have a garage I dont see what a cover twice the price will do any different

One thing you dont want is it being too big, i'd recomend getting wheel covers rather than the car cover going to the floor.

Im just looking into getting a custom one made to fit the full TRD widebody kit inc rear wing at this place http://www.classicadditions.co.uk

As long as it covers the body work that fine with me, don't really need all the wheels covering up.
