Had Rob (LBM) over last week for a stage 1 plus engine bay treatment, so the idea was not to remove all defects but to remove light swirls, oxidation and bring some clarity back to the finish. I didnt take pics throughout the whole process, but there are some with a writeup below.

This was the car on arrival.

The induction kit was covered and the engine bay was rinsed down, sprayed with Meguiars APC, Engine & Machine Cleaner and agitated with brushes.

Leaving this. I came back to this later on.

The wheels were then sprayed with Bilberry, types in Meguiars APC and agitated with brushes.

The car was then jet washed down and snow foamed.

Once jet washed off, all door, boot and fuel cap shuts were cleaned with APC.

The car was then washed using Meguiars Shampoo Plus, by 2 bucket method.

It was then brought inside and clayed to remove bonded contamination. Then washed by hand again. When it was brought back in, the engine bay was sprayed with Aerospace 303 to treat all rubber and plastics and left to dry naturally.

Paint thickness readings were taken

After this, the following items were done.

Headlights machine polished.

Paintwork given an IPA wipedown to remove polishing oils

Lime Prime Lite Glaze / Pre-wax cleanser applied by hand to prepare the paint for a wax and to add to the 'wetlook'

Concourse wax applied by hand

Wheels polished with Meguiars NXT then coated in Sealant, tyres dressed with Endurance tyre gel

Exterior plastics treated

Exhaust polished

Paintwork in engine bay polished

Interior hoovered and dusted down. Oil stain from drivers side carpet removed. Plastics cleaned with APC then treated with Natural Look Dressing

Glass polished

These were the final picture i took. Unfortunately i didnt get any finished engine bay shots, but i'm sure Rob will post some up.

You do such good work!!

Did you get trained to be good at it or is it just down to you wanting all cars to look amazing?

I have gone through various training for certain areas of detailing, but most comes down to hands on experience over a long time, its not exactly something you can go to college to study :) Its also the kind of job where you are constantly learning new things, one of the main reasons why i enjoy it so much.

Being hands on and learning new things every time is always good.

Job satisfaction must be one of the great things.. Seeing the faces of the owners when they see the car all finished must be cool.

Very true, Rob had time for a quick shake of hands, then dived in the garage to have a look :D
