ripped_fear
Just curious as to what sort of price would you guys be prepared to pay for a NA-TT6 with the new engines mileage only being around- 50-60 thousand miles??
Neil-NA
6-7k depending on if it has bigger brakes etc.
marc_p
Facelift or pre-facelift? How was the conversion done? For instance, with mine I gave AFR a complete TT6 to use for the Aero so everything was swapped, or is it just engine, gearbox, loom and ECU? ripped_fear
im not actually looking at one was just curious and for arguments sake lets say its a pre facelift, and its just engine n box.
j_jza80
I'd probably pay just as much as for an original TT6, if iot were in excellent order, and the conversion carried out by a reputable garage.
ripped_fear
I'm asking as I was always intending to do the conversion to mine but with the price dropping on tt autos I may just buy one of those and do a 6speed conversion as a TT6 converions plus fitting will cost around 5k. Scooter
I'd spend nothing now and just buy a nice clean manual 6 speed when you've got the £7-9K......if you can't wait then get a nice auto TT and then wait and buy a nice clean manual 6 speed! conversions to me only make sense if you have a unique car to start with or have a Marc P type project with an aerotop etc. You have a, in supra terms, dime a dozen silver na which you could replace with a dime a dozen, silver auto tt pretty cheaply or even a manual cost effectively if not cheaply. Buying a conversion wouldn't bother me per se but it would have to be a couple of grand cheaper than a comparable from the factory TT. ripped_fear
yeah mate I have really sat down and considered my options today. I love my car to bits but I think I have decided to try and get as much money back from my na as possible and by a A1 example of a TT auto and then convert it, as this would be cheaper to do it this way rather than buying a tt6 as they still seem to pull about 10-11k for a low millage example. so if anyone has a nice example of a tt auto with about 50k on the clock drop me a pm! Agree... it would also depend who did the conversion for me.
ripped_fear
well I was going to get it done by a trader on here so it would have been done properly but i think i am just going to wave good by to my 1st supra so I can get a tt and consider that my starting point for my true build. dude
If you get any of the traders on here to do the conversion you would never tell it was nt a genuine TT, Paul Whiffin, SRD, AFR, Chris Wilson, Keron all should give you a car back as you want provided you are willing to buy the bits they tell you to. ripped_fear
im just thinking that for the price its going to cost me to get mine to the same spec as a TT6 I may as well just buy a TT because when ever I decide to sell it I would never see the majority of my money again. Neil-NA
Does the vin plate not say if its a gte or ge (cant remember)
ripped_fear
mines a ge and yeah it does
dude
Does the vin plate not say if its a gte or ge (cant remember) Make a new vin plate then, its perfectly legal and you can buy new vin plates blank.
Neil-NA
Make a new vin plate then, its perfectly legal and you can buy new vin plates blank. Well you learn something new every day or in this case 2, vin and log. Might be time for me to think about one of these turdbo things after all. dude
TBH I see no need to change a vin plate, if the conversion is done correctly. Maybe in 30 or 40 years a converted car will be worth less than a 'matching numbers car'
drift_bear
i was looking at doing the NA-TT and manual conversions on my old green NA, but i sat and worked out all the prices and time consumption and etc, i decided to sell up and just buy a nice clean TT auto instead, it saved alot of hassel and it was the way i would of wanted my old supe to look like. ripped_fear
dude- you seem to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to this so what would you say a complete tt6 conversion would cost if done by a reptible dealer on here at a guess obviously. Scooter
As an example for a original TT manual straight purchase - a silver facelift with black leather and uk brakes with a genuine sub 70k miles and very good service history can be had for less than £9K. ripped_fear
I would probably be looking at getting one with around 50k on the clock. but tbh I wish I had bought moviestars supra as that was a stunner.
dude
To get the engine , box , diff in and running around £1K but it never ends there, factor in FMIC, FCD, BPU and a few guages and you are prob up around £2.5K with parts all in. dangerous brain
Do what? You think you can buy a TT engine, a 6 speed getrag box, and a TT LSD for £1k and then install of that for £2.5k? Guess I'll have my aristo swapped out for a manual tomorrow then fella considering the cheapest getrag box about is £2.5k at the mo.
