hi

iv recently heard about vinyl wraps for your car, you can change the whole colour of your car, alot cheaper than gettin a full paint respray and if its done properly should help protect original paint work from chips etc

im sure it has its downsides though

Has anyone had this done? what do people think of it?

I have seen vinyle wrapping on a few cars at my work place, if its done properly its okish i wouldnt personal get my whole car wrapped maybe a lip on a spoiler or dashboard,

I saw a white range rover which looked good from a distance but if you get close too it, The vinyle was pealing away, it was actually a black range rover, If you decide to get it done make sure you see some of their previous work thats been done 6 months ago, As fresh vinyle won't peel off but 6 months down the line is a diffrent story

I would surely do a 3m clear bra on my front bumper but that's about it.

I did it and it was crap but think a lot of the problem was down to who did it. It couldn't be polished up the same as the paintwork either.

The biggest issue i've seen with wrapping all of a mkiv is you'd have to have joins because the roof blends down the quarter panels and each side of the windscreen and the sheets used aren't big enough to cover such a large area.

hi mate i can tell you now that it is not cheeper than a paint job! lol

if its only for color change i would just get it painted!

but if its for somthing differnt like carbon or chrome then go for it but its very expencive!

we have done our van in carbon and it cost around £1200 just in material! so with 5 full days labor on there aswell you would be looking at around £2000 for a good fitter to do it for you!

but do be aware they are some cheeper places out there but you get what you pay for!

heres some pics of our van:

That is a little bad ass van, love the carbon look  Pretty expensive work then considering that was for just a little Transit Connect and not a large car.

Lol, if you put some gold in here, there needs to be chrome too :D

I'd say I'm jealous of your engine bay, but I'm not as it would consume all my time cleaning it. Looks lovely, just too much upkeep! :D lol

Wrapping is one of the things I'm planning to look at with mine with some extra designs for the sides. Hopefully I'll get a good bonus next year and no trouble with the car for the rest of this one. Anyone seen the quality of work from the place that gives a club discount? Can't remember the name but got the link at home, they do the manga graphics as well.

If any of you are actually considering having this done I would highly recommend jamies work at Total tinting. I've seen his work 1st hand and it is 1st class.

If you go with the chrome look, don't park it in front of anything light, unless you want it to be near invisible :D

Well I'm loving that.
