My friend has his Supra converted to a Van (Road tax reasons 400 euro vs 1400 euro) but they changed the rules this year and DOE center needs this(Commercial MOT, think it is called DOE in UK too)

The information has to come from toyota and on headed paper.

  • GVW gross vehicle weight
  • Axel weight 1 (front axel) weight it can hold
  • Axel weight 2 (back axel) weight it can hold

Can anybody help or any suggestions?

Isn't the axle weights on the chassis plate?

I know for MOT purposes, off the top of my head, Think top number is total vehicle weight, second is axle 1, third is axle 2 weight.

Will that not do for your test? It's in the MOT handbook what each one is and how to read it. If any of that is of any use?

They really are closing all loop holes

I knew this carry-on was going to come back and bite people in the ass.

It always looked like it was too good to be true and anyone that thought they'd get away with it should've known better.

The Revenue Commisioner is a life form beyond all redemption, feeding on people like us. But its guaranteed he will always get you in the end.

Sure dealers where doin it with Ferrari's, aston Martins, Maserati's ; commercialising them, avoiding VRT putting them back to normal Spec then selling them with VRT loading but yet they never paid VRT on them

To put it into perspective for uk guys; VRT on cars like these is 40-60K but for a commercial/other Vehicles it is a standard rate of 50 euro regardless of the model

Car dealers where making huge profits

On the matter of the headed paper, would it not be possible to use an old invoice from a Toyota garage, hide the irrelevant information regarding the transaction and then scan the remainder onto a computer?

Or are we getting into the area of fraud with that suggestion?

It not a legal Document I doubth Fraud would be possible; to be honest DOE center is just trying to be as awkward as possible with him considering the Model is out of production a few years now

This all sounds like past tense.

Aren't they still doing it?
