took it apart today and there wasnt a lot of grease in the bearing.I have now worked fresh grease into the bearings and the ticking seems to have gone away.Couldnt find a socket so got out the big spanners and 1 7/16 af fitted nicely,knew there was a reason i kept all my king dicks.

How did you get the right torque on the nut just out of interest?

 

I found 1 King $#@! in my toolbox today, looks like its prewar, rusty but still goin strong. Well it would be if it fitted anything nowadays!!!!

 

i havnt torqued it.tightend it up to where i marked the thread then flogged it a bit more.
