Hey all, im looking to change my engine oil this weekend, going for the 10w40 stuff from toyota, just been doing a bit of research and ive seen people put in around 5.5 quarts for the 2jz-ge, can anyone confirm how much the engine will take, i was going to get a 5ltr tub from toyota, can someone tell me in litres, how much the engine should take?

Heres some prices i got from toyota inc. vat, hope thats useful for someone

10w40 £17.95 5l - Toyota

Oil filter £11.60 - Toyota

Sump grommet £1.03 - Toyota

cheers, Kev

Thanks simonb, neh graham s, im going for the thicker stuff, 10w40, thats what toyota recommended me, they know their stuff on the supras, and ive been reading that people have been using this in their na's to, so ive had confirmation that this is the stuff i should go with:)

God I did this the other day, that filter change will make you insane (unless you have freakishly small hands)

I think the OP has an NA in which case access is quite straightforward. :)

I use 10w40 semi-synth too. When I asked in my local Toyota dealer they said they use 5w30 for everything and that it's the only grade they stock. Whilst fine for relatively recent cars, higher mileage engines (esp NA, not sure if it's wise on turbo'd cars) can benefit from a slightly thicker grade IMO.

I'm currently on the 10/40 also but I think for my next oil change I'm going to try Castrol Edge Sport 0W40 Oil 4 Litre, everyone I know with similar cars uses it and extremely happy with it. Any ideas?

I've been told, engine becomes alot more responsive & warm up time is quicker?

Yeah they sold 600 UK's and most dealers have never seen one :D

So know there stuff??

2JZ-GE Engine Oil (NA (Non Turbo) Engine on a MKIV (JDM only))

Stock = 5w30 Semi Synthetic

I recommend Fully Synthetic 5w30-10w40

Dry Capacity 6.2L's

5w30 - Motul 300V

5w40 - Motul 300V, Silkolene Pro S

Change capacity 4.8-5.8L's

I'd recommened Silkolene Pro S 5w40.

Being less stressed that the GTE version any Fully Synthetic oil between a 5w30 and 10w40 should suffice.

Interval = 9-12,000miles depending on use

Im not going to go with that, i havnt heard much on the 5w40, as engines get older the quality of oil for a oil change, changes to...ive heard members use 10w40 semi synthetic in their supras, and my local told me to use it to..)

I RECOMMEND Fully Synthetic 5w30-10w40

I'd RECOMMEND Silkolene Pro S 5w40, i like to use original toyota service fulids and parts for my supra.

5w30 and 10w40 SHOULD suffice

when i read that for the first time, it wasnt enough for me to go with it as it wasnt 100% bang on for my liking.
