501 LED's

Looking to get some LED sidelights, just wondering if the standard LED 501 bulbs cause the bulb failure light to come on, if so these would be ideal...

I have standard 501 LEDs and they work fine. I think Its just the newer cars they cause problems on due to lower resistance (or something like that )

I got these, got fed up the Ebay ones only lasting a few weeks

Some of mine have lasted well over a year, one or two lasted about 6 months.

Given the price though, I'd just buy several sets.

Yes, and no problems. They work fine...

Mine are a pain in the ass to change, headlights everything has to come out

I've changed them before but bluish ones (not LED), they look OK and they still work after a few years but I'm going to fit some HID's so though some white LED would be a better match

They are only necessary for cars that have the lighting circuitry tied into the CAN bus (much later cars than the Supra) i use these in mt Skyline and they are pretty good

I have a set in mine that I got from z-LEDs or something like that, I paid £15 for them.

These are dear! i got 2 sets of these for around 8 squid from my local motor spares. Updated the front sidelights and the rear numberplate lights...came out a treat and look 100 times better next to the HID's, suprisingly put out quite a lot of light for what they are too! Would definately reccomend these 501's to everyone

Which type are they, single LED or multiple? (4, 9, 12 etc)

Mine were the 4 SMD type ones, they point forward and are in an enclosed plastic casing.

I just had a look at the ad, and to be fair the ones you posted have 8 SMD's....still a bit expensive IMO though

Yep those are the ones mate, the ones i bought had a glass/plastic cover over the top of each individual SMD though...the actual LED itself wasnt showing. Like the ones advertised in the autoscroll on that page you linked

SMDs are stupidly bright compared to regular LEDs, i've done my sidelights, rear number plate and interiors with the SMDs and its such an improvement. All were cheapy sets of ebay and have been fine for a year

Were these a straight fit matey?

I bought some rather exspensive LEDs from another place but they wouldnt fit in the bulb hilders as the body was too wide.

You just need to get w5w led replacements i.e the 501 LEDS...they should slot straight in mate...havent tried any other leds in there myself, but the 501s are a straight swap for the w5w' bulbs

I had some, they would fit but was too wide for the bulb holder, i could trim a bit off the holder but didnt want to damage it.

I will try and get a pic soonish.
