Green Peace
By next year, i will be looking for a new Supra with a bit of luck.....but where is the best place to find one now and can they still be imported. I'll be looking for a 2001 or 2002 tiptronic, with less than 15,000kms...what do ya reckon my chances are and what is the most cost effective way to do this? How much at the mo would we expect to pay for a 2002 tiptronic with less than 15000kms and what are the pitfuls.
albundy68
cant help thinking that now might be the best time to buy a late supe, quite a few have been imported in the last minute rush to avoid the new regs, and as time goes on i can see the later models getting rarer and the milage on available ones getting higher! Just my 2p's worth though!
Green Peace
Good point but financially that is impossible for me till next year, I thought someone had done a model report now on the 97 to 2002 Supra and that it was now ok to import them or was that a rumour. albundy68
could be that theres one available, but even if there is it will push the prices up from what ive read, because the reports are expensive to put together, so whoever has the report hires it out to other importers, so this would push up the price. And wouldnt seperate reports be needed for trips and manuals??? Im no expert on it, TBH Why a trip and not a manu? much as i'd like one i havent read anything great about them??? I got a 97 TT facelift but before VVTi which is the best of both worlds if you ask me, - alot of the enhancements that the later models have, but without VVTi making mods that bit more expensive!!! Aerotop Dave
Suggest you browse Newera's site. http://www.neweraimports.com/ In the description for at least one of the Supras they are selling they mention about doing the report themselves at some stage. I suspect they may be doing the test entirely off their own back to enable them to either then sell the info to other people (to make a bit of income) or to maybe try and corner the market a bit in late model Supras. My experience with dealing with Miguel suggests a friendly email would reveal what they are planning to do (or some hints at least).
Green Peace
Thanks Albundy and 200sx... thats really helpful to know, I will keep me fingers crossed...coz this will obviously dictate the future of ownership...I guess otherwise we are nearing the end of the Golden Age of the Supra. Cheers Si

I think it was £24995 (or maybe it was £29995, I forget) when she got it last year. Oh yeah, it's got a bleeding great dent in the rear quarter now as well.
