Hello

im new to the forum.

im looking to buy a supra next feb when my car insurance comes up and just need to ask a few questions.

i have driven quick cars for a few years now and looking to get a 500bhp+ supra.

i have around £13,000 to spend on a car will i be able to get a 500bhp for that price.

what typical problems to supras have and are they fixable.

supras are getting on a bit now but how do they do for rust and at what milage will things start to break

i only ask the questions because i dont want to buy one and be disapointed with it.

thankyou

scott

Welcome to the club Scott

£13K may get you a single turbo Supra putting out 500+hp. Any modified car running that sort of hp will only be as good as the quality of parts used and the quality of the build. Any car you consider I would make sure you get thoroughly checked out by a Supra specialist before parting with any money. There are a lot of dogs out there that have been thrown together with cheap parts, there are also many examples that have had a lot of money thrown at them that have been properly built. To the inexperienced buyer it may be impossible to tell the difference, to an expert Supra tuner it will be very obvious.

Rust is not a big issue, the only area that can be prone is around the rear window seal.

Provided it has been regularly serviced the 2JZ-GTE engine is very strong and reliable.

Parts wear though as on any other car of it's age, the main area I would be concerned about would be suspension component wear, as replacement parts are expensive.

Hang around here for a while and learn as much as you can before purchasing, check out the Classifieds section and see what cars become available. If you do find a car you are interested in then post a details so we can give it the once over for you.

Worth having a read through THESE THREADS in the FAQ section.

Any specific questions you may have try the search button, anything else you need answering ask away.

Welcome to the forum.

Check out the conversion threads that will detail the experience of owning a single.

Also check out the classifieds.

Mines been single for over two years and it's been a joy to drive and fairly economical to own for what it is

Welcome Rob. You will get a lot of Supra for £13K. Choose carefully and take your time. Members will go out of their way to make sure you don't buy a lemon and most members will recoginise cars that come up for sale.

I would also consider looking for a fresh import. I bought my secind Supra from J.M. Imports and Jurgen's customer service has been excellent.

Good luck with the search.

You should get a great car for that money... owned my Supra for 18 months (although I've just sold it) and it's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Fabulous cars considering the age and I'll be getting another one next year once the winter is over.

Just make sure you do your research and post any cars that you are thinking of buying on here as no doubt someone will know something about its history (unless it's a fresh import).

Give it time. There are some chavs lurking but we tend to use big sticks and intelligence to beat them into place.....;)

Standards here are good, text speak is outlawed and club spirit is in abundance..!!
