My ps pumps been whining for a few weeks now only for a couple of minutes on start up then its fine. Tryed bleeding it didnt work. Started it tonight now its whining and grinding really bad steering wheel hardly moves at low revs, moves a bit with higher revs ive bought one from richardstock1 which should come in a couple of days. What damage will it cause if i drive it cos i'll park it up until its fixed.

No it is sealed in the reservoir. There are a few threads on here on about the best way to clean it.

I had a PAS failure, steering very noisy and got progressively heavier until it was almost solid and eventually it started to pi$$ PAS fluid all over the place.

Are you hoses modified in any way? I had to lengthen mine due to moving my reservoir. Under load one of the hoses collapsed the noise was terrible, steering very heavy. Thought I had blown the pump. New hose sorted the problem. You need someone to check the hoses while you turn the steering wheel. I was working on the car by myself so only spotted it when I got someone the turn the wheel for me. I was about to condemn the pump.
