Once picked up I want to paint my t88 turbo, only the compressor side as the hot side has a h/p blanket. So I want to know how hot it gets so i can get some paint which can handle the heat.

Bit of a wierd one I know but I already have Some matt grey paint for the charge pipework and coil pack cover, I also have some black for the rocker covers! But is only rated to 300c

I painted my old T88 with a normal rattle can body paint from halfords many years ago, seemed fine for the few months i had it on the car.

Around the same as EGT ;) So anywhere up to around 900c..

300c won't hack it.

Front of the turbo dont get that hot, cold air running in it all the time.

That looks the biz Jamie! Can I see u done the hot side too???

Going for a black and grey bay! Even down to vacuum lines! Not a piece of chrome in site! Even going for black aeromotive fittings;-)

Just want to be different! Think I can pull it off!

I did the hotside with silver exhaust paint, that never lasted long though, front was fine.

Off topic I know, how did u find the t88, laggy ol thing! I'm gunna give it a go and I can always change to a precision billet turbo at a later date if i feel the need..

Pm me if u like.

T88 is ok if you run lots of boost, they dont seem to wake up till about 1.8bar, They dont hit in hard like modern turbos which is good for traction but they are a bit laggy, if you have a stock rev limit you find by the time it gets on boost in first gear you have to change gear, they are ok from second gear onwards.
