Well everyone, I am looking forward to getting a look around the site.. I currently own three gt4 st205 celicas, but theres only one of them my pride and joy.. I am looking about investing in a tt supra as a new project and I always had a soft spot for one... The problem is I know everything about the celicas and know nothing about the supras so thats why I have joined up to mkiv to get as much info before I buy and what to look out for..

a couple of question I have to start of with is

1. is there much differents in the uk and jap models

2. what bhp are these standard

3. what should i look out for when I buy (problems)

4. are they easy to get insurance for

excuse me for the above question but I am newbie

current gt4 (should give you a idea on what i want to do to a supra);)

all the best

alan

Hi Alan, welcome to the club!

1 - Not much difference between the UK and JSpec TT models. UK models only come with the TT engine, they didn't make a UK NA model.

2 - 320bhp ish (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm about by 10 horses or so :)). The JSpec ones had a claimed 280bhp, but in reality they were/are 320bhp as well.

3 - Make sure the heater gets nice and warm. Other than that, look out for the usual things you'd look for on any car (smoke on startup, clutch slipping, etc etc)

4 - Fairly easy, depending on your age, location etc obviously. They're common enough for many insurers to cover the JSpec ones.

It could be a bargin or it could be a money pit and as said if its a UK spec the odometer will be in miles.

I'd like to know what o/e items have been replaced other than whats listed in the advert as there could be a lot of parts that could soon need replacing. I could give you a list that i've changed on my uk spec car thats done 130,000 miles but think it might seriously put you off as theres a hell of a lot more to check than just a hot heater and start up smoke.

What has it actually done mileage wise as you say history to 180
