Rear fog light problem

Hi guys

I've got a fog light conversion in the right hand side reverse light, this hasn't worked since i bought the car 6 months ago, but with MOT time looming i need to fix it. So assuming it just needed a new bulb, i bought one, put it in, flicked the fog light switch on and nothing. First thing i thought was i had bought the wrong bulb, so i tested it in the left hand side reverse light, put the car in the reverse and it lit up nice bright red, so its not the bulb. The other thing i can't understand is that the switch for the fog light lights up when its turned on, just not the actual fog light itself, so there seems to be power running through the circuit, although i haven't been able to test if the power is getting to bulb socket as i don't have a voltmeter. Any help would be appreciated as i'm stumped?

Thanks in advance guys.

There isn't much you can do to double check there is power getting to the light mate if you ain't got a meter. Unless you physically trace each wire making sure its where it needs to be all the way from the switch to the light itself.. You checked you've got an earth there?

I've had a good look at it, of the 2 cables going to the bulb from the loom one of them has been cut (blueish one from memory, white one from loom still connected to the bulb) and a new wire attached to the bulb which goes to the switch, so i'm assuming its using the ground from the loom?
