Supra and Soarer Radiator compatability...

Hi,

Just wondered if the Soarer TT radiator was the same as a Supra MKIV's? Is there a difference between a manual or an auto's rad also? Im thinking of upgrading my soarer TT5's radiator and you can get plenty of big aftermarket Supra ones... Hence the questions!

Im pretty sure the Soarer has the engine from the early MA70 Supra which i think is 1JZ engine. Where as the JZA80 MKIV Supra has the 2JZ. If im wrong can somone correct me. But if im right im guessing it wouldnt be direct fit.

Don't know about 1jz's but mkiv rad's are different between manuals and auto's, the auto one's have a built in trans fluid radiator, if you have a manual and are using an auto rad then most people either block it off or use it to cool the power steering. If you have an auto and are trying to using a manual rad then you'll need a second cooler to keep your trans fluid temperature under control.

There are differences.

Soarer to Supra, there are mounting braket differences, they can be sorted, and auto to manual boxs - autos have a cooler part at the bottom of the rad that is not there on a manual, the same as in a Supra. (Just like the post above!)

Yes they can be swapped but it depends on the amount of work you want to do.

Ajazyasin/Teflon Don has fitted one to his Soarer and I am in the process of doing one to mine.

Thanks for the replys guys, it was only a question as I can seem to pick up a supra rad easier and cheaper than a Soarer rad. Also as I said you have some aftermarket options which, while I'm thinking of changing mine, I'm tempted to go that extra as I'm planning on keeping the Soarer for some time.

Carlos - the guys on here seem to call their manual tt 6 speeds TT6, I just applied the same to my Soarer 5 speed manual.

The reason why they call them that is.... They have six speed manual boxs instead of 5 speed manual boxes. They came in both flavours. The Soarer never did.
