Painting cam covers

I am going to paint my cam covers. What paint is best and what method? prime then paint? or just a high temp engine paint?

I want to get some polished ones but can't afford it so for now I will paint these to spruce them up. Fed up of seeing original the flaking paint.

or, if there is someone on here who can powder coat them in black chrome I would be interested based in london would help

why dont u get them polished thro Lee mate

i would use a ht paint on them, but polished would be far better imo.

Ibrar does a good job although dare i say it i did prep these myself and removed all the casting marks and the flash lines which does make a huge differance.

It was quite easy really with the right tools and only took an hour or so to do both covers i think it took Ibrar that long to mask them both up which needs to be done nicely, the p/c bit is the easy part.

that black crackle finish looks good but i think cam covers wouldnt work, them lower runners are well nice and i think a plenum pulls the look off

Anodising is dirt cheap, it's the prep that costs.

We have an anodising place at the back of us, I believe he will do little 'cash' jobs, i can find out.

I did some in crinkle finish but it didnt crinkle enough !!!! I think Frosts sell the proper crinkle finish, I must try it one day. The ones I tried looked pretty good.

I dont really want be using halfrauds rubbish.

Had the crackle finish done on my GT-R, really nice finish.
