Hi all,

Possible new owner doing some research to ensure the supra is the next car for me.

Will be looking for a twin turbo supra with standard bodywork japenese or uk car insurance between the two is not bad considering my age.

Basically the car will be used every day and for the occasional trackday and hopefully a trip to the ring.

I am looking for feedback on those that have used their car on track what mnodfications they have been done and how bad are the cars on consumables such as brakes, tyres and general wear and tear?

No doubt i will have alot more questions the more inoformation i find out.

Thanks

Ross

Alot of car for what you pay. Very reliable and strong. General servicing is very cheap compared to other makes with similar performance.

Go and see jurgen and once you have been taken out for a spin you will have your heart set. :D

Welcome, regarding the cost of running a tt mkiv a lot will depend on the actual car you buy in the 1st place, if you buy an early one thats not had many o/e parts replaced then you will almost certainly have you hand in your wallet quite a lot.

This will be due to age degradation of certain parts such as the intercooler, radiator, heater matrix, air con rad, brake pipes, brake calipers, engine hoses etc, most of the major mechanical items if looked after with regular servicing will last for some considerable time and will be good for high mileage.

If not then their big expensive repairs waiting on the horizon, try to buy a properly serviced car with some of the above items already having been replaced.

Good luck and look beyond the shiny paintwork when you start viewing them, beauty could be only skin deep !!

Never had mine on a track.

What car did you have before?

I still look at mine from time to time and think..... porn.

Best thing I ever bought.

First thank you all for making me feel welcome! :D

Currently I drive a bmw 328i sport. For trackdays and alike I have previously had two Westfields and now have a Radical.

I am putting the radical up for sale in the very near future as I don't often use it and when I do trackdays can be restricting and you very seldom get 5 consecutive clear laps.

Thanks and Regards

I had an e36 328i coupe as a rub around, it was good fun. I just cleaned my sup and every time I spend time with it I think 'i bloody love this thing. I had a rx7 before this and I was always throwing cash at it and constantly worried about it blowing up, the sup starts first time every time. Buy one. From jurgen. Now. Please.

Yes i will be selling the bmw, which i have had for approxiamtely 5 years and have enjoyed driving it almost all of the time. The only times i havn't was in the snow where it became frustrating due to getting stuck on the odd occasion.

The only reason i am lucking at changing it is i want to experience a turbochargerd car and have always liked the supra and beleive all cars should be rear wheel drive which rules out the usal evo and certain skylines. I have also reached an age where i can insure the supra plus you only live once!

I have taken your advice and have spoken to Jurgen who i will hopefully meet tomorrow to dicuss the possibility.

Thanks once again for your help and advice.

Don't under estimate the power of the dark side.....:D

After three and half years of having a manual I have gone for a tiptronic but most of the time I'll have it in auto. It's a far more relaxing drive.

How old are you Ross?

No don't think you can convince me especially when I will be using the car for the occasional track day the satisfaction of getting each shift up and down complete with heel and toe is great and something to aim for.

I am 23 years old.

At 23 I would want a manual tbh. When you get to 35 you consider things differently. You'll like comfy chairs, a soft bed and a pipe and slippers.....:D
