Has anyone on here actually had their car vinyl wrapped? I've seen a few threads about it but I can't find anyone that's actually taken the plunge.

A friend who does tinting as a living is contemplating moving into vinyl wrapping, his tinting I must admit is flawless. He's going to do his 59' C class merc and has offered to do mine at cost for the exercise / experience. All I have to pay for is materials.

So I'm contemplating it, even if it's just for 6 months to see how it is and to do him a favour. Will document the process too for members so can show how the finished article is.

The colours I'm thinking of going for are in the poll. Pic of my car below, it has a do-luck front, spats and skirts and a TRD carbon wing, Rota GTR wheels. Otherwise it's pretty much OEM :)

Only pic I've got and the light's not good to take another at the moment.

I am also open to just doing it the colour that gets the most votes, it's not going to be on there on a perm basis.

I think it'll ruin your paintwork, and you can always see where the lines join. However, if you were going for a graphic-type effect (like the Trial car) that might work.

FWIW, I think your car is stunning as it is though :)

Seen a couple of wrapped cars and no joins, it will only ruin paint if the paint is not keyed underneath or on rust, if I was going for a wrap I would want a design printed on the wrap, someones idea of a WW2 Mustang type design might be cool with the sharks mouth, or flat carbon.

you would also get pulled every 5 mins for impersinating police :p

In the uk? lol no thats a us style cop car, and i would have police on there, saw a r33 at japshow in white with police vinyl on the sides, and blue flashing lights for going down the strip

Hmmm its ok, but surely that illegal like chrome cars?

Where does it actually say anywhere you cannot have a chrome car, I have seen several on the road?? I know everyone says 'it's illegal' but what law is that, I think thats something of an urban myth.

I like the matt black finish.

I'm just wondering if matte black will suit the Supra though if i went for a wrap. Contemplating a very dark slate grey possibly in matte.

Will have to find out how hard it'd be to do a pattern, we were just initially looking at buying a 50m square roll of a certain colour and cutting it to suit.

Well thanks guys for the comments and food for thought.
