So i had coolent gushing out the expansion bottle tonight, after a brief panic and a search on here turns out it was just a faulty rad cap, so i've borrowed one off james (hateevent) for now and all should be fine for that but.. seems the spring and a bit of rubber has fallen into the radiator due to it breaking. you can see in the pics the bits missing after removing the cap.

do you think this will be an issue or is it a must to take the rad off and flush it upside down to get the bits out?

any advice appreciated.

It should be fine if the bits stay in the radiator, but there's a chance they'll make their way towards the block which you don't want. Unlikely to slip past the thermostat, but you don't want it getting lodged in such a way that the thermostat gets jammed partially open (or worse, jammed closed).
