245 tyre too stretched on a 9.5j wheel on a Supra?

As above really! 245/40/18 too much for a 9.5j?

I have a 265 on my 9.5j rear wheel and they're a bit stretched

245 is the smallest but will be okay, the optimum sizes are 255 or 265 with 275 being the max to fit to a 9.5 inch wide rim

Was going to say, my fronts are 9.5 and I have 255's on then with no probs at all

ive got 245 on 9.5 at the front. works just right. we tried 235 and it just looked stupid

I have my doubts and don't understand the stretched tyre scene i've either got old or just like certain things like tyres to be spot on

I'm running 235/45/17 on a 9.5j track rim. Not out of choice (cost), but it works OK and doesn't look 'too' strange.

Took me a while to convince the tyre fitter it was a good idea however.

I think that on something like a Supra, I wouldn't run a stretch like that. It seems to work ok on the Dub scene, where it's more of a low and slow effort.

On my old Golf I had 215/40/18 on a 9J and that gave quite a good stretch, but I wouldn't do that on a Supra.

Toyo rate the R888 as being 295 max on a 10" rim, sure that's what Paul Whiffin races on with his TA car.

EDIT this isn't for the OP, but more the table although being a good guide, specific tyres may go outside those values

You can probably fit a 225 on a 9.5j, and a 295 as well. But depends on what you are using the car for and if you just want to show off (or the other way around). The supra came on 9.5j rear with 255 on it. I would stick with that. Toyota did the work and mindgames when they build the car, why do it all again? (unless you just want a certain look and don't mind the cars purpose)

I agree with you Jay and your example proves there will be varients but the size you mention is a small differance unlike some of the sizes mentioned by others which are miles off.
