Guys

 

been Reading loads and looking around but Still have loads to learn and still things I don't really get but can some one please point me in the right direction of some well respected and decent

 

Car sales

specalists / tuners

mapper

 

I know too many too many to list for imprezas after 7 years of ownership but I am looking to pastures new and need pointing in the right direction.

To be honest mate finding a very good tuner is the main part - having to travel a bit to give your car the best attention to detail is a long 2nd!!!!

 

Specialists like SRD, AFR and Whifbiz are not too far a drive from you.

James, i am not fussed about having to drive far, i used to do a 3 hour round trip for my last garage just its nice to know if there was one on your doorstep so so speak, thanks for the heads up

For anything specialist it's really worth having someone with an intimate knowledge of the car. It's worth travelling and as others have suggested there are AFR, SRD and Whifbitz not too far from you.

 

A decent mapper is Ryan.G of 2bartuning

got to ask you all, i have come from a 485bhp 440lb impreza sti 5 and that was quite a car.

 

what in the real world is a sensible figure for road and track use in a supra? i guess its a personal opinion but any views.

 

what makes a capable road and track car with out costing a small fortune as i have been there and done that already,

a bpu supra is a bloody fast road car and from a stock TT you can get to this stage for apporx £1k depending on the parts you use.

 

This will give you 380-410bhp and around 370ftlb :D

 

next step really is a small single turbo conversion - costwise this can vary a lot - budget for around £8-10k for a decent conversion and you can expect results of 500hp upwards :)

well with any luck it will come BPU'd already if not more but after that you mention a single turbo conversion, can i ask how come everyone appears to go single rather than upgrade the twin units and stick with a twin setup?

 

surely the twin route can make the same power?

 

or is it a cost thing that its cheaper to go a larger single then buy two twin units?

 

its just the big builds i see for sale on here and on pistonheads are all single conversions and i would of thought people would stick with the standard setup

 

any views on this

you cant realy efficiantly upgrade the twin system. you can get hybryd units and keep sequential operation on them. but the seem to implode quite quickly and dont give much advantage (about 50bhp). Its just easier and you get better results with a bigger single unit. you can get twin replacements that make very good power (see leep at SRD's which is 900+) but they are very expensive to buy and hand to find and are also expensive to fit because they are a pita apparently to physicly fit everything in there. They also wont run sequential like the stock ones and behave more like a single turbo anyway (although some claim they spool faster and boost comes on smoother or make a better street car.)

Where in Berkshire are you Stevie? I've live on the Surrey/Berks border and I've had the Supra for 7 years (+ a GTI-R for 3 years prior to that). I think I've made use of most local places over the years if you need help :)

ok thanks for that, that's the first reason I have had for the single / twin debate I have been trying to find out so thanks I appreciate it.

 

So the standard units make 410bhp max, would of thought they would of made more than that but hey.

 

Say I wanted to acheive 450bhp 450lb what will be needed if the car has been BPU'd already, how efficent at that point are the

 

Intercooler

injectors

clutch
