Anyone ever done this to a prefacelift na? i know theres not much point to it, but the facelifts have it, so must be good for the car if they came from the factory like that:D want to mount 2 gauges on my a-pillar, anyone got any ideas on doing this?

Also i have 2 more little problems while im here, on the right side of my dash at the top, my cluster dosent work, dont know what its meant to display but i think it might be the engine warning? oil?

And i had a new engine fitted to my supra, ehich has around 40k on it but i have my old unit on the dash which reads over 100k, anyone know how i can get the unit calibirated to read the engines current mileage exactly? would like to get these bits done and they dont seem that hard as what ive had to do in the past when it comes to electrics:D

thanks, Kev

Hi Kev,

You need to get an adapter plate to sit between the block & the oil filter with out puts for pressure sensor. This way you can fit a oil pressure gauge.

Your other problem with the right hand side cluster is it needs resoldered. Just take it of & it splits in half. Then touch all the old solder joints with a solder iron.

The odometer reads the car mileage, not the engine mileage

But my engine is different and i have the original odo thats reading different miles...if i fitted a new engine is the odo meant top pick up the new miles automatically then? hmm

Oh ok, i got ya! so even if i change my engine i dont need to change the mielage bcause the acutaly mielage is of the chassis/shell/frame and not the engine! i always thought it was the engine, thank you guys no wonder the garage said it was no probelm for paper work etc:)

cheers for the info!

Basically to show the correct mileage you need to make a note of the mile now (when the new engine has just been put in) then when you sell it in future you say to people 'the car has done 100k miles but I had the engine switch for a newer one so the engine has don.....current milage - milage on piece of paper + 40k.'

People generally expect the odometer to cover your entire car including your engine, but it will always read what your chassis has covered.

When you come to sell it, just say you've had an engine swap with lower miles. You may get good or bad feedback on that however.

Id reshell in the later years to come if i import a nice clean aero shell, with a full interior retrim like stock to feel new and a fresh job on the body and engine/bay thats my dream. But for now she'll do the job just fine:)

Yes thats the part i told you to solder. I can't remember exactly whats in there (my car is in getting sprayed) but i think its engine management, oil level, oil pressure & ABS lights. Can't remember anything else.
