can anyone tell me how to get the old bushings out to put these in? bushes here

I have bought a new gearbox retainer (the fork thing the gearstick sits in) and bought these to fit to it but now I am thinking that the retainer came with new bushes maybe I just leave them in there because i cant figure out how to remove the bushes that are in there..

I used 2 sockets and a vice. 1st socket that'll just go through the bush hole in the cradle, and the 2nd one big enough that the old bush will fit inside the socket. Sandwich the cradle between the sockets within the vice jaws and slowly tighten the vice. The smaller socket pushes the old bush out into the large socket...

If you bought a brand new retainer fork I would leave the OEM bushes in, they'll be fine for ages. Or sell the new one, and fit a second hand one with the aluminium bushes.

I agree, if it was a brand new retainer/fork/cradle (whatever you want to call it) with brand new OEM bushes, then I would possibly just put that in. The original rubber bushes on my car had done over 120k, but I can't in all honesty say that I really noticed any real difference with the aluminum bushes in place.
