Another core plug gone I suspect

A few years ago, (3 or 4 I reckon) I had the small core plug at the rear of the pump housing fail. At the time it was a real pain as first I discovered that some numpty had overtightened the crank pulley bolt and then I struggled to find the plug I needed without buying the complete plug from Mr T. Anyhow, today I noticed the temp gauge had shot up and I was starting to overheat. Pulled over and had coolant leaking in exactly the same place as before when the core plug went:( Dreading having to strip it all down again just to get the pump housing off. I still have all the bracketry in place in that area for the Supercharger I was playing with a few years ago. I reckon I will have to unbolt that from the block to remove the pump and housing making it more involved. Also I suspect the thread in my crank is shot as I really struggled to get the new bolt back in last time and not looking forward to that again.

Anyone have an idea why this would fail again so soon? Just spent the morning striping it all down and sure enough the same tiny core plug I replaced a few years ago has failed. It still looks fine and even shiny, but close inspection shows a small hole. Such a mammoth task to get to as well. Struggled to get my crank pulley off and in the proccess broke the cam tension idler arm which is irritating too.
