Wheel Spacers - Do I need 'em?

OK, I've replaced my Discs, Pads, Spigot Rings and had my wheel balanced I was hoping my steering wheel would of lost it's shakes at about 80 leptons. Now it is better that it was but warped discs wouldn't of helped that, but I am still getting some shaking.

Now I have ASA wheels fitted and also have those rubbish looking 3mm spacers which probably fit most 5 studded wheels (definetly not hubcentric).

So my question, if you see below with the spacers I have 5mm between the wheel and the caliper. Do you think I could drop the spacer all together leaving me 2mm between the wheel and caliper? Is this too close? Surely with everything up tight it should never get closer than 2mm other than a bit of heat expansion?

Just think if the wheel sat flat on the hub, the spigot ring would do it's job and everything may be happier?

Thanks for the replys. I'll take mine off today and see how it goes. Definetly gotta be better without them!!!

You are absolutely right there mate. Nice to see some sense. For some really in depth info on the why and why not use spacers, do some reading of everything Chris Wilson. God of suspension and Shropshire dictator. :D
