Emergency help needed! Norfolk

Just got back from holiday, turned on the supra to check eveything is still working. Noticed smoke from the bonnet so lifted it to find flames all over the manifold and wrapping... all over the turbo and pipes....

 

 

 

i dont know what to do...

 

 

can anyone come and fix it or point me in the right direction. obviously its a non mover so i will pay your costs. i know for definate it needs a new oil return pipe and the heat wrapping needs to come off as i think thats where its started.

 

the wastegate still isnt fixed. could this be an addition to the cause?

 

any help is welcome.... before i cry :(

Which cowboy decided your oil return line didn't need to be a braided hose?:blink: With it being so close to the manifold and all..

Easy Fix.

I'd check your engine oil levels too buddy, you may have lost a bit.

 

'Braided' hose comes in many forms. The performoflex linked to isn't going to be much better as it's basically a rubber hose with a steel overbraid. As the hose is so close to the exhaust the rubber will end up going brittle and cracking, and you'll be in the same situation.

You need to go for a teflon based hose, and then if you want to be really safe fit a flame guard to the hose.

Teflon hose isn't cheap though, I think I paid something like £180 for the oil return hoses on my twins. That was with a pretty hefty discount as well.

 

The big problem with the teflon hose though is that you've got to attach it to the bottom of your turbo and to whatever fitting you have at the sump. You're probably going to be best off having a chat with a specialist like Atech who will sort you out. http://www.atecautotechnic.co.uk/
