speaker brackets material

hi,

i'll be making a few of them popular speaker brackets.

pretty much the same as original, also cnc cutout.

but i'm not sure what material i should use.

prefering MDF but if there is something better let me know :)

MDF isn't great as it's a very absorbent compressed cardboard type wood, not great for something that is in your doors where moisture will be a concern.

 

Use some ply wood and seal it.

what's ply wood? sry my english isn't that good..

and seal with what?

yeah, i bought the models in MDF. wasn't aware water gets in there. plastic is no option with my machine..

it can be cut to shape by hand if you take things slowly with a regular hand saw, screws wont be good for tapping, just use thin/short bolts and nuts to secure the speaker in, and stock sized holes, 10mm for the stock bolts...simples
