I would like peoples opinions my future situation please.

Im thinking of treating myself sometime around next year as my N/A is getting close to 120,000 miles, although its still running mint. Now im on a lowish wage but can run my supra fine and happily living with my girlfriend dept free (currently renting but its in a nice part of town so Im happy for now), im 25 by the way with around 8k budget (next year that is) I also live in the wonderfull city of salford with only 3 years no claims:(

The cars I want most are-

*RX7 (Decent insurance quotes, Decent price to buy, Expensive to run and unsure how I would cope with the bills but I would make sure its got receipts of recent engine rebuild before buying)

*Supra TT UK spec manual or Tip (Insurance is Decent thats the only reason, I dont want to pay 9k+ just because its rare)

*Supra TT Import manual or Tip (This is what I would buy no question only every insurance company ive tried want over 2k, thats the only thing stopping me buying an import one but I would love a TT manual)

*300ZX UK manual (Ive always wanted one of these since I was little and I could afford a good uk TT manual which means Decent insurance/Decents price to buy but not sure how reliable they are but this car I think would be most affordable all round, but I like the looks inside and out of the other two cars more)

Thats about it so what do you guys think?

RX7's are brilliant but wouldn't recommend as a daily driver.

How much of a difference on insurance between a UK & J Spec? Because you would be paying quite a bit for a UK Spec & they are more harder to get hold of, well a decent one anyway (Nice one for sale on the forum though, not sure if you seen it).

I have no idea on the 300ZX other than they pretty nice but not as nice as a RX7 or Supra.

Supra TT Import manual or Tip for sure.

But I Draw the line at £150 a month for insurance anything more than that I would refuse to pay, I would like to still have abit of money on the side for going out ect. Thats why im having to think about the other cars (although my fav car is possible the RX7:taped:)

My car would have to be a daily driver (around 4 miles to work and back) I cant afford to run two cars if one of thems gonna be a sports car.

A UK Supra is around £1300 but I while back I got a quote for only £750 but couldnt remember who gave me that quote but that is a brilliant price for me, TT cheapest is £2400 but If I had the money to buy a car right now I would have put up a post asking what insurance companys to try for in my situation (alot of companys wont unsure me because of the area)

Yeah I agree with you on the 300zx they are nice but not in the same way the supra or Rex is, I still wouldnt mind owning one as I could afford one quite easily providing it was reliable like the supra.

I'd avoid the RX8 and 300zx as the running costs can (potentially) be crippling. Realistically, you won't find a UK spec manual with lower mileage than your NA within your budget. UK Autos are good cars but are thirsty. Have you considered a 350z? Even an RX8, although it wouldn't be my choice.

Vauxhall Monaro?

Yeah I noticed that when I was looking thats another point why I dont want an auto, Out of all the cars I could get the supra or RX7 are my fav's so would like to stick with that (if possible)

as for the subaru, there are plenty round here and we dont need another one lol.

Supra TT manual or trip

Keep trying on Insurance there is bound to be a gem somewhere that gives you a cheaper quote.

If I got a quote for less than 1500 I would be happy with that and I would deffo go for the TT supra. Closer to the time i will give it another go with insurer's.

I would say buy what you really want (TT 6spd import).

I know there are many other factors to insurance, but how old are you? £1.5k per year for insurance does sound quite heavy, but if you can manage that then go for it.

I wish it was 1.5k, nah thats what I would pay if I got a quote that cheap lol, everyone wants 2.4k+ for the TT Import, im 25, with 3 points and nothing else within the last 3 years(which most insurance companys ask instead of 5 years now) and I will have 3 year NCB, held my licence for almost 8 year (only reason Ive not many NCB was I lost 4years NCB on a crash I had few years back). Im annoyed at the fact ive always paid car insurance/tax/mot yet im at a sensible age and im still getting ripped off.

Yo Alex, im with flux now and im paying £1300 for the n/a also tried sky and they wont touch me, I think I may have to try more import specialists.

Try A-Plan: they have an imports department.

Will do, the problem with me getting a quote now is I only have two years no claims and if I say I wont be getting a car till I get my third year NCB then they wont quote me.

All I want is a TT manual is it THAT much to ask:(

I don't understand why the insurance on a TT should be significantly more than on your NA. The only thing that's changed is the BHP of the car, and in my experience at these levels it doesn't make much difference. From what I've read on here, like-for-like NA quotes are very similar to TT ones (within 10% of each other).

You could state that you have 3 years' NCB in order to get an indicative quote. Of course, you couldn't take that quote out until you actually have 3 years' NCB by which time you'd probably need to get a fresh quote (quotes valid for 60 days etc etc).

Just get the TT lump dropped into yours for now matey, they save for a 6 speed, saves paying out loads in one go.

Thought about it and I really want to get the TT because the car has been put together to handle the power ect, If I got mine upgraded I would never be sure that everything has been made to support that sort of power. Also would still like a white one:d

Yeah I will do that tonight, I wish the difference was one hundreds but unfortunetly over a grand more, like you said its pretty much the same car apart from power.

Copy :( :p

I see what your saying about the whole conversion thing.

S15 not float your boat

I love most JDM cars mate but I think the s15 are to expensive for what they are, I actually prefer the s13 out of all of them:sly: I think the only thing stopping me from upgrading to a TT is my insurance now:( Hopefully I can get a few quotes in before my xbox addiction kicks in tonight:d

In my eyes the best cars to go for is Supra/RX7/Skyline although I find 4wd a bit boring + skylines have crap dashboards compared to the supra and Rex.

Are you short enough to fit in an RX-7 Benyon?

lol Thats my advantage of being 5 foot 9, I think I would fit perfect in a Rex:d

Skyline is easy enought to make just rwd though, dare i say it for a cheap option why not a GTST, yes they are piss poor and look damn ugly but they are cheap enough to buy, try and sell on if need be.

Yeah I know two people with R33 GTS-T RWD, they are ok but I dont like the dashboards and with it being the main thing I will see while driving I want a good dash. I cant think of much else I like apart from Mitsy 3000gt or GTO however ive read bad things about them by people who owned them, still nice looking car IMO.

Hey Benners :p, you are in the same category as me.

"Seemingly" bad Northwest-England postcode, Sky wont insure me, but flux give good quotes. My Sup insurance is bang on £100 per month.

25, No accidents, No Points 4yrs NCB - didnt see ANY reduction in price when I turned 25.
