give a try on this:

turn off ignition

remove the needle

turn the igniton on (not the engine)

put the needle back at 0 Kmh and go for a test drive.

Ive done that, put it on gently touching the bar that sticks out, just want it sorted by the pros, not something ill like to diy, to be fair with speed cams these days, traffic cops, laws etc, really want back up (paper work and reciepts) as you never know what can happen nowdays.

resting point of the needle is way past the bar that sticks out. You need to lift it over the bar and let it rest before ever taking it off so you can see where it needs to be put back on. I am guessing its past that thought so I would go to a garage if I were you

Won't mean anything, I really can't see anyone certificing your speedo.... And it isn't as though the defence of 'my speedo was saying 70' hasn't be used before, in fact I have only ever been asked 3 times 'Do you know what speed you were doing?' and they disagreed with me EVERYTIME ;)

I have similar issue due to putting on my El-Glow's but it is due to my own speedo going up to 320mph (TRD 320kph converted). When the car first came into the UK someone had adjusted it so then you could use the TRD 320 clock but had it sync'd so then it read it as MPH's.

I'd be interested of a garage who could solve this.

I thought when you take the needle off it is a pain to put it back on again?

Phil the link doesn't work.

I just went on motorway with GPS and put needle on at steady 60 :p Done it in 4 different Supras till now (stainless steel dials sales) and it was easy enough :)

Konrad is it pretty easy taking the needle on & off? I heard it can be a pain getting it back on again?

An do you have a tip for getting it back on again easily :)

Its a simple push in pull of, like a clock needle. Im just going to go down and ask toyota if they can or have any suggestions for me, one we have in northampton are really friendly with imports.

Konrad, that idea with the gps seems to be a good one!

Also im considering a seperate speed gauge unit that works through gps, just want to check the back ground info and laws on having one if the original speedo isnt working

Im also thinking of removing my speedo cluster and have it sent of to toyota/specialist to recalibirate it? anyone know if this can be done?

Ive fitted a mph and kmh face to it, the kmh points match up with the stock ones and also shows the mph, got it for like £6 of ebay ages ago. Nice and stock looking, precut, very happy with the exact line up to. So ill have them reuse that facia.

To take needle off you just use 2 spoons to make leverage under it. Putting it back is straight - just push it slightly and needle will pop in into place.

If you want to waste money then go for it :p If you live close to Wolverhampton, pop in to my place and we will go to M54 to put needle back on properly. Change facias and put speedo speedo cluster back without crystal front cover so I can get to needles. do not put needles back, use GPS to maintain speed when getting to me and I will put them all back together properly.
